Brazilian Cheese Bread (Pão de Queijo) | Quick & Cheesy Delight

Craving something warm, cheesy, and bite-sized? These Brazilian Cheese Breads ( known as Pão de Queijo ) are naturally gluten-free, super easy, and take less than 30 minutes from start to finish. They’re crisp outside, soft inside, and perfect as a snack or side.

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15–20 minutes
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 12–16 mini rolls
  • 1 large egg (room temp)
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2/3 cup warm whole milk
  • 1 ½ cups tapioca flour
  • ½ cup grated cheese (Parmesan, mozzarella, or cheddar)
  • 1 tsp salt

These cheesy bread rolls pair perfectly with comfort foods like our Cottage Cheese Mashed Potatoes, creamy, rich, and surprisingly protein-packed.

Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a mini muffin tray, or use silicone muffin liners if you have them.

Place all the ingredients into a blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Don’t worry if the batter seems thin, it’s supposed to be.

Pour the batter into the muffin cups, filling each one about ¾ full. This gives them room to puff up while baking.

Place the tray in the oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese breads are puffed and golden brown on top.

Remove from the oven, let them cool just slightly, and enjoy warm. That’s when they’re at their chewy, cheesy best.

  • Cheese Choices: Parmesan for boldness, mozzarella for stretch. Mix both for flavor and texture.
  • Make Ahead: Freeze unbaked batter or fully baked rolls. Reheat in an oven or air fryer.
